Movement Electronic Music Festival. A massive, three-day techno/house event taking place every year over labor day weekend in May, in downtown Detroit, birthplace of techno. The festival has been occurring every year since 2000, with some changes in management but mainly staying just the same. It’s all about the music baby! This is going to be one sweet event, and after seeing the Phase 1 lineup, I immediately purchased my three-day pass.
This lineup is stacked like hot cakes, if that’s a thing. And it’s only phase 1! Some of my personal highlights here include techno-legends Ben Klock, Dixon, Paco Osuna, and Dubfire B2B Hot Since 82! There is also a good amount of variety, with artists such as sax funkman Griz, the beyond awesome collaboration between Skrillex and Boys Noize, entitled Dog Blood, and Danny Brown. Then, of course, artists such as Richie Hawtin, Luciano and Loco Dice are playing. OH, and may I mention that the three-day pass only costs about 140$. It’s 130$, and then some extra fee’s bring the total to 140$. That, in my opinion, is a steal, and makes attending this event a no-brainer. Ultra has a good lineup too, but a same three-day pass costs almost 500$. The choice is clear, I’ll see you all at Movement!
